Then usually the problem is still with the air box leaking. Check to see that there is an O ring in the top of the filter box.

Also try maintenanceing the clutches.

Thanks for fast replies, Checked the air box again today and yes it has seal and I zipped tied all the brackets to make sure it was tight, this cart has me stumped im pretty good mechanically but never worked on a golf cart before so any input helps alot. The cart has started to backffire a little when slowing down, and only runs good fully choked, if not choked it will only run with small amount of pushing petal, then if u ease on the petal to full throttle it will run but very slow and weak.

As for the clutches I have not messed with any before except on a go to cart one time, how do I check and service them? I was told the previous owner replaced one to a lower more power cluth/gear so any I think the rear one is this new one (maybe a bigger one it looks like)
thanks mike mac

Air box is still leaking. Remove the air box from the carand assemble on your work bench. Top can be warped, but sometimes be straightened out again. Zip ties on box, I believe the box is an important part and should be assembled correctly and meticulously for the car to run right. Read the site, much has been said on this sub.

Backfiring can also be caused by throttle cable not adjusted correctly.

I'm doing this from my phone, no wifi where in am. David, I had a whole paragraphf what things to do and this phone wouldn't send it! But read this site, its all here!
Also what dady said!

Agreed airbox has to be perfectly assembled and sealed. Could also be dirty carb possibly fuel supply. Take the fuel hose off the carb and turn it over gas should gush out every pump/revolution. If no then check fuel lines they crack, if so then clean that carb over and over until it works. I usually just take it off and spray carb clean through all the passages with the little hose thing. Does it run in neutral, does it run with air hose off carb?
