Default 1996 TXT just died... but batteries full

I really need help. I've been doing some research trying to get my parent's old golf cart going again as they are having a number of health issues. I don't have the cash to get the thing fixed; however, I know I can fix it with a bit of help? Hope someone is out there willing to help me out.

A number of years ago I remember a wire or two burned up and they were able to get it fixed at a shop. It was in the box where all the wires that go to the motor come out of....sorry I don't know what the heck the thing is called... I can't find the name of this thing anywhere.

Anyway, they had it fixed at a shop and it ran good for about three months and one day it just stopped on my mom in the middle of a field...no burning wires this time though.

Any ideas??? I guess without more info you guys are just poking around blind...sorry.

How about a service manual?

Thanks in advance!!

Can you get us a picture of this box? Is it the speed controller? That could be bad.

I do think it's the speed controller but I'm not sure. It's dark now and I can't get a pic. Is there a place online or a manual somewhere that has the components listed that I could look at so I could identify it?

Try looking through this manual. I have a 95 and much is the same. Be sure to look and see whether you have a series cart or PDS.

well....if I would have jacked it up and looked under the thing I would have seen the wire that was pulled loose. Yeah....sooorryy!!! So...it is running fantastic again. Next project with this great little cart is putting a little lift on it and some good wheels and tires to get them around their farm. Thanks every one for the help.

Do not be fooled by this. oletop means series or DCS. PDS carts were not produced until 2001.
