18 hp opposed briggs
J ust bought 18 hp briggs opposed doe any one no what kind of engine these are how they work in cart?

Its an L head engine. make sure the cylinder heads are cleaned. as with most opposed non overhead valve engines they will build with carbon and snap a rod. Also most of those engines were no oil pressurized even if they had a screw on Filter (most do not) so watch any major inclines or off roading.

They have a large footprint so space can be very tight. You will need to fab a mounting bracket, adapt or buy a new clutch, make an exhaust and a wiring harness.... Not a small project. You will also find it has tons of torque but not much in terms of RPM's, which is where the speed comes from on these carts. Check clayfor's thread, goat53 has done one, ubercart and maybe others.....
