The motor would not change, but everything else does except maybe the solenoid. If someone gave you a free cart where the body was in great shape and you wanted to build up some bad *** cart based on classic metal body..then yes it would be great. If you got a resistor cart that works for you...don't. You are better off selling it at buying something new or what you want. The time, cost and effort to get a resistor cart to a stock controller cart would cost more than buying a used controller cart. Besides, a resistor cart goes faster than a stock controller cart.
