Default Shorter Drive Belt for 2006 TXT

I still have the factory original #72054 GO1 ...1-1/8" wide x 41-1/4" O.D. drive belt on my 2006 EZGO TXT. The past few months it appears to be slipping or have issues not wanting to take off like it did when new. Here's my explanation. It now takes more RPMs to get the belt to move the transmission...or move the cart. The cart is factory stock. No modifications.

Several years ago on another cart forum, there were questions and answers regarding installing a "shorter" drive belt. I did keep a note to that effect. They (those that made the suggestions) said to use a 1-3/16" wide x 40-3/4" belt. This made the belt about 1-1/4" shorter. Has anyone here had the same problem, and did the shorter belt work? They posted a belt number 1351.

Thanks

Yep, there's a thread about it in the ezgo gas tech section at the top of this forum. There are a bunch of different belt numbers in that thread, and if you do a search here, you'll find another handful of belt numbers. What I did, was go to Carquest, and told them I needed the drive belt for a 96 polaris sportsman 250, and they gave me a gates powerline belt that is exactly one inch shorter than the stock ezgo belt # you listed. It is a little difficult to get on the first time, and shifting will be a little tight until it stretches a little, but it will definitely improve your torque. I'm headed to work, but I can post the part # of the belt I'm using tonight when I get home.
