LOL - don't worry, a wood fire would be hard-pressed to actually melt anything (mine cooked for the better part of the afternoon on a REALLY hot combo of dry yard waste and poplar logs, she was glowing at a few points but came through it woth flying colors) .... Just a note, might want to grab some grill or muffler paint, as the muffler is REALLY going to want to rust after the BBQ (the $4 is definitely well-spent).

Let us know if this helped you out - the presence of flames, etc tells me you definitely had more than a little crud in there!
