Clutch slipping? G9
My clutch was rebuilt five years ago, just in the last few days the engine noise is louder and it does not seem to have the same "pick up and go", I have never serviced it, is there service to do? What can I troubleshoot?

Re: Clutch slipping? G9
On a G9 there is a grease fitting on the outside edge, but don't put over 2 pumps in it and make sure none comes out on the belt. On rear side near ramps of rear clutch is another fitting put a couple in that, check the plastic shoes on the ramps while you are in there. I you want to do it all take the cover off the engine clutch and check all the weights and links, then lube the pins it moves on with a little super lube spray or light oil, not much, clean any excess, replace cover, clean it with brake clean first if you need to inside there (also spray off inside the spring in rear clutch if you need). The links and weights are usually what wear out in there. The grease fitting is for the center bushing.
The belt is worn out when it gets down to 1" wide, if lifted you should replace it before that. 1 3/16" wide is new size. Last also check the aluminum sheaves on both clutches when they wear out they wear holes right through them, and then chew the belt up and eventually they break off. |
