G2/G9 Carb differences?
I'm running a carb off a G2 engine, on my newer G9 engine. Is there a difference? When the cart is cold started, it does backfire a little through the exhaust when first started, other wise ok. I want to rebuild the other carb (the one off the G2 engine), will they interchange? I won't to work with the jetting to tune the carb to the K&N filter I put on it. (got rid of the stock air box). I also eventually want to put a header on it.
One more thing, does anyone have the yamaha part number for a rebuild kit for the carb? |

Re: G2/G9 Carb differences?
Thanks for the reply, is there a thread on here that someone went through the process of the rebuild? what to watch out for etc.? is there any particular parts you would recommend to have on hand to replace?
Thanks for the info |

Re: G2/G9 Carb differences?
No thread I know. But you can always do a "search", like carberator rebuild ect. The only real concern when taking it apart is the float pin removal, don't go "medeival on it" and brake the casting leg!!!! I would take the 2nd one you have apart. Check for loose throttle and choke shafts, the bowel gasket and probably the most damaged part...the pilot adjustment screw. It should be a very sharp point (should not have a flat spot on the point area), if it's good, screw it in till "lightly...lightly" seated, then 1 and a half turns out. The main jet (that is in the float bowel) should be unrestricked and you can drill that one out to .046 for a test carb. These carbs are pretty basic, you'll see when you take one apart. If you want, start a thread, with pictures and members will post if you have questions. I know I'll help if needed.
