Re: Only can go 2 miles till dead
You threw all that money at a cart, and you don't have a digital multimeter? Sure ya do! Now let's get some voltage readings on each battery 12 hours after the charger finishes its cycle, as well as when the cart starts losing power.

Gman is right you may have one bad battery or you may have one battery installed backwards? Something isn't adding up?

Re: Only can go 2 miles till dead
Ok I'll do that.bought this cart was told the batteries was only like two years old. Put wires controller solenoid lift wheels tires. Man it would pull the tires off the ground. But top speed only like 14 mph but I was ok with that was happy with all the torque I use the cart for hunting it's hilly country with muddy roads. So went to camp to try it out would only go around 2 miles dead. So the guy at my local cart shop told me it was the battries. So I buy the dekas. Next weekend go to camp same thing about 2 miles it was dead man I was sad. On a hilly muddy train 2 200 pound men how many miles should it go before going dead

Re: Only can go 2 miles till dead
That's a really hard question to answer... there are too many variables.
First what model Deka battery did you buy? What size tires? What controller? What motor? How steep is steep and how deep is the mud? Are you letting the charger finish & shut off on it's own? Recharge every night? A stock golf cart runs 90 minutes.... for every modification we make we take a little run time away... big tires steep hills, mud... it all takes more amperage to negotiate. |

Re: Only can go 2 miles till dead
GC115 deka. recharging it till charger shut off on it's own. Stock motor/22" tires/ AXE 4855 controller/ just looking for a ballpark idea on the distance? Could a bad motor cause this? Some times going up steep hills I can smell it. I have the batteries charging now to check voltage. Just wandering why it did this with old batteries and new ones?

Every diagnosis starts with battery voltages. Then we work forward from there.

If you can smell the motor getting hot ~ its the motor burning up in my experience....

Re: Only can go 2 miles till dead
Are the batteries going dead, or is the motor overheating? That smell is coming from SOMEWHERE!
