Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
I had this discussion with the manager at the battery store when I had my batteries installed. He sells Deka, Crown, Exide and others. His recommendation was the Deka Dominator 8G31DTM with 97 AH, a trolling battery. Or the Deka Intimidator 8A27M at 92 AH a combo starting/trolling battery. Their sizes are both 13X7X10 and they weigh between 65 and 70 pounds. Maybe he was just pushing the Deka line, but supposedly they were his best bargains. Like NickS said, they are deep cycle marine types.

Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
Here is how I am going to hook it up so that my normal 36V charger will charge the whole system... Any thoughts?

Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
You will need a seperate charger to charge the single battery

Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
Electrically it would work, but your new deep cycle battery is now competing with two of your cart batteries for proper charging voltage/current. Keep in mind also that with your proposed connection that your new deep cycle battery is now a part of your cart's battery pack and two of your cart batteries are now part of your stereo system resulting in unbalanced batteries .(which you were trying to avoid). I agree with others here that your best bet would be to keep this new battery separate from the cart pack and charge it with a dedicated 12 volt charger every time you charge the main pack. Good luck - RAY

Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
Bad idea. The four batteries not in that loop are going to boil, and bad. Install a 12v accessory outlet and buy a $30 charger/maintainer for motorcycle batteries. It's cheap, it's easy and your pack will thank you.

Re: 12V Battery For Stereo Help
For like $30 more dollars why not just get a power reducer? Why hassle with the separate battery. I have run my stereo, lights, 12v outlet for hours and still had plenty of juice for driving around. Drawing the small current from all 6 batteries are nothing compared to running the cart.
