Default How smooth does a g2 engine run?

My g2 starts good and seems to run good as far as power but it seems like it runs rough. Is that normal or should it be pretty smooth?

Not sure exactly what you mean, but I have an 87 g2 and it runs like a champ and is fairly smooth.

It is hard to explain it. It is somewhat like a vibration. I am going to see if I can record it.

The motor mounts are very good assuming they are not broken. They do have a tension cable under the gen pulley so the motor can't torque into the trans, it will transmit some vibration when you are gassing on it hard. Otherwise I'd say mine was very smooth, it never missed a beat. My clone is now on the same mounts and I can feel it a little but not much. It shakes more, it is a larger 420cc though. It mostly only shakes when I gas it at idle. The clutch can make noises and even vibrate if the center bushing is shot. You can move (tilt) the whole outer section by hand. Normally they have a little play but not a lot.

I have new mounts and the cable is also new. The bushings have been replaced in the primary.
I made a video but can't get it to load.

sounds good to me, only thing you might do is remove the gold cover on the front clutch and check the weights ,they might be loose on the pins

Yup! Sounds pretty decent to me also! The least you can do is change oil, and get a tune up kit for it...

Do you know if the balance shaft has been removed from the motor?
