Charging my batteries while working on my rebuild

Ok, so my cart is almost completely apart in my garage. The batteries are out and on the garage floor. Can I put them back into the battery tub on the floor, connect all the wiring as if it were in my cart (minus the cables to the motor) and the plug my my charger in to keep my batteries topped off? Is this dangerous? I'm just concerned about the wires to the motor not being hooked to anything. I know it takes a couple of weeks for the batteries to discharge, but I'm going out of town next week and want to make sure they stay topped off. Any thoughts?

How long is your rebuild going to take, if only a month or so you shod be fine without charging.

Just have the batteries wired together and you will be fine charging them.

I connected my batts together in the garage (on plywood cause I am old and find it hard to change) then connected my charger wires (female that were on the cart) which are only two wires (well three one to the horn I think but no matter) and then plugged them in. They fully charged and are sitting pretty. since this build could take a month I like you was concerned since the batts are new.

Alright, I suspected there wouldn't be any issues with doing this. I'm gonna throw the batteries back in the tub hook everything together and charge'm up. I'll probably throw some electrical tape around the wire ends that go to the motor just to be safe. Thanks Guys!
