G9 issues
IMG_0083.jpg I posted earlier that I was having oil going into air box. A guy told me to block it off so I did and now it popped off my oil cap. So now I need a new oil cap can't find it. Is this normal for the G9 to spit oil into the air box. Is it going to hurt that I plug off that line from motor to air box.

Re: G9 issues
For some reason, you have too much pressure in the crankcase.

Re: G9 issues
You can't block that line, you have to put a gokart type catch can on it or at the least one of those little filters the gokart places also sell for block vents. Any engine makes pressure in there, worn ones make more, it must be vented. They vent it to the airbox so the fumes are burnt up just like lawn engines do, because normally oil does not come out of there. Normally only when you overfill the engine will it come out. High rpm can help it come out. I would plug the line at the airbox, but not from the engine it must vent somehow. I jetted my cart and left the line off the airbox, I put the engine line up high and nothing came out of it, it was just an open line. I left the airbox line off to let more air in, but if you don't jet the carb it may not run right. I removed most of the dust collecting parts of the airbox on my cart.

Re: G9 issues
Thanks guys for your replies I went ahead and bought me another cap since I couldn't find the one the kids lost. And I put the line back on the cart the way it was. I went ahead and drained what oil was left and put 1 qt back in it seemed to be fine for now aleast. Got alot of stuff still I want to do but one thing at a time I'll get there some day I guess.
Thanks again. |

Re: G9 issues
My engine finally got tired, I could smell that line when it was hot it would stink like blowby. So I put a clone engine in it. One nice thing is after all the work you have a new engine in your cart, not a rebuilt. Oh, well it has like double the power too, but it is new....lol.
Here is one of the vent filters I was talking about. A lot of old cars used filters on the pvc intake. http://www.affordablegokarts.com/mm5...gory_Code=AFC2 |

Re: G9 issues
sho 305,
besides looking really cool, does that vent help reduce any engine heat? JP |
