Early gas g2. Once warm, runs very poorly at higher rpm
I just got my cart running again for the first time in 4 years and its running a lot worse than it used to. It got parked because of the starter generator. Other than that it used to run fine. Now it sputters and cuts out after running for less than a min. (First 30 seconds or so it runs strong) I'm guessing these sputtering problems are happening because the motor is warm. I put on an electric fuel pump that puts out about 2.5psi. New fuel filter, air filter. New ignition coil to the plug. New plug. New voltage regulator. New carburetor, carb spacer. I found a broken wire going to the ignition box and fixed that too. Anybody have any other ideas? Ignition box bad? I hope not, I can't find one for less than $300

sounds like ignitor (black ignition box). best thing to do is borrow one to test, but im sure you would have tried that. you used proper yamaha parts or equivalent right? also, i think Nivel sells one for $200, still not cheap.

Stop spending money, and clean the carburetor, fuel filter etc.

Might try a "dynamic spark tester", then you can see if your loosing spark and causing your problem. Could be a bad ground or faulty wireharness or the Ignitor.

Re: Early gas g2. Once warm, runs very poorly at higher rpm
Thanks for the nivel idea. I drained all the old gas out and put on a new fuel filter, the electric fuel pump came with an inline filter, and the carb is brand new. The part that confuses me is that it runs well until warm and after that it'll barely go down the street.

Are you sure your choke plate is fully open when it is pushed in? If not, the cart will flood when it heats up.
