had it jumped, the meter on a1 a2 and crossed red/white and white like you said and for some reason it finally went! although i did it this time with out the wife, i mean assistant and it worked...

No problem. Here's the real lesson... always check the stop switch, or any device, with power whenever possible. It may check good if you just check resistance, but when you apply power, it may check bad.
