Default Charger Issue

I think I have either an OBC issue or a charger issue with my 99 DS. I plugged in the charger on Saturday and it started charging at around 15 amps or so. Now Today, I check on the cart and the charger is off and the amber battery light on the cart is on. So I unplug the charger from the power plug on the wall and plug it back in. As soon as I plug the charger in, the battery light comes back on again but the charger does not come on. I repeat this step 3 times with the same outcome. So I get my other PD1 charger and try that. It powers on and begins to charge. So then I try the problematic PD1 charger, and it turns on and begins charging. Right now it is charging on my other PD1 from my 03 IQ. If anyone has any insight to this, I appreciate it

The amber light will also come on if it's an incomplete charge. Possibly OBC issue

If the charger had turned off as a result of the OBC turning it off and not a mains power failure then unplugging the mains and plugging it back in again will not switch the charger on. You need to unplug the DC from the cart and plug it back in again to get the charger to start up. The relay in the charger is controlled by the OBC via the sense lead in the DC cord.

try resetting the OBC

Resetting the Club Car On board computer - reset the OBC

To reset the OBC the following must be done in this order:

If no Tow/Run Switch then skip that step

• Key Switch to Off
• Forward/Reverse to Neutral
• Tow/Run Switch to Tow
• Disconnect the Battery NEGATIVE (–) wire from the Battery Minus terminal on the battery pack.
• Put the Tow/Run to Run
• Forward/Reverse Switch to Reverse
• Key Switch to On
• Press the throttle pedal down (hold it to the floor)

The reverse buzzer will sound (sometimes) and go off in about 30 seconds.
Leave the cart like that for 5 min to cause the OBC to reset.
After 5 min release the throttle pedal

To reconnect the OBC back into the system:
• Key Switch to Off
• Forward/Reverse Switch to Neutral
• Tow/Run switch to Tow
• Reconnect the Batt – wire to the battery minus
terminal on the battery pack.
• Tow/Run switch to Run
• Key Switch to ON

if this does not fix problem i'd say your charger has the problem

I tried unplugging both the AC and the DC

If it is the OBC or the charger, why is it mysteriously working fine again?

more than likely you had a power spike or loss and it did not reset so it went to default mode .. when you plugged in different charger it reset ..only a guess

I would say you have a broken wire in the charging cord. Sometimes it makes connection, sometimes it don't.
