2005 ezgo slow to respond
I have a 2005 ezgo txt 295cc. When I depress the accelerator starter begins to turn but the engine is slow to get going I usually have to depress the pedal to the floor to get started. Then while I am driving if I lift my foot off the pedal to slow down then depress the pedal to speed up the cart just won't respond right away takes a few seconds for the engine to kick in and speed back up. Anyone have any insight to what may be going on?
Thanks, Richie |

Been sitting for a while? Sounds like a carb problem.

Re: 2005 ezgo slow to respond
Once it gets going it runs fine. I can ease off the gas and it will run at the slower speed but when I try to accelerate again it is slow to respond. No blue smoke.

Not sure what WOT is. When it gets going it runs fine. I can ease of the gas and it will run fine at the slower speed. It is only when I am starting or I release the gas all the way and try to accelerate again.

WOT = Wide open Throttle.
It sounds like a carb problem to me.. Does it run better with the choke pulled out part way? |

Did this get resolved? If so, what fixed it? I am having a similar issue.

Re: 2005 ezgo slow to respond
Howdy,
I just went through this same problem on my '90 GX444 (and then some,) to find that the carb was worn enough to help do the same as you are describing, but along with that and probably most of what caused the sluggishness itself, the fuel mix on my cart was way to rich and likely caused most of those symptoms. I was mixing 40:1 for a fuel/oil ratio, and found out (on the forum here, ) that the requirement was a mix for 128:1. (still can't believe the lean mix but it is what it is.) I mixed for 100:1 (considering the age and wear of the engine,) and that indeed solved the sluggish acceleration problem, the smoke disappeared, and the engine picked up to very good, leaving the problems caused by the sloppy carb to deal with. I ordered a new carb just before the mix revelation so now I can deal with that, as it is worn beyond ugly and causes suction problems through the throat and venturi section. With the float bowl pin sticking closed (lean conditions)/not closing (flooding problems,) and a totally worn throttle shaft and butterfly parts, I can now concentrate on properly feeding fuel to the engine. Hope this helps, E.Z. |
