Upgrade battery wires with welding ground wire?!
I want to start by saying thanks for all the help and I advice I have received from my new addiction, "BGW!"
Someone gave me about 12' of this ground wire from a welder. I want to upgrade all the 4ga wires in my cart to this and wondering if this is acceptable wire, and where can I get terminals from? It looks about like 2ga? Not sure? Thanks |

These are the Lug's I used on mine:

Re: Upgrade battery wires with welding ground wire?!
Yes welding cable is good cable; the fine size of the strand works real good...
BUT I don't know if 12 foot is enough.... For my Precedent cart I needed close to 25 foot all told. Your DS may need less though. I got my material solder lugs, solder pellets, shrink tube and wire from Del City... |

Re: Upgrade battery wires with welding ground wire?!
my series cart took around 29 feet to do all my cables . most of it ran to the f/r switch . then I had a hard time trying to find 2 ga lugs with the small hole for the rocker block on the f/r switch , so I made my own.

Re: Upgrade battery wires with welding ground wire?!
Awesome thanks for the help! I can actually get a few more of these ground cables so I will have plenty of wire. Is crimping as effecting as soildering? Reason I ask is I already have a heavy duty crimper that will work for this project?

Crimping is fine as long as the lugs are the proper size.
