Upgrades for Curtis 1206HB-5201 ?
I have a 2011 48v PDS TXT. Any programming or speed chips I can do to make it a little faster? It does 16mph with 19inch tires. I was expecting about 19mph.
I will upgrade controller later, just looking for low budget speed in the near term. |

I suspect the controller is in "Golf Coastal" mode (14.8 MPH on 18" tires and no regen braking)
You'll have to find someone with the right Curtis handheld programmer to get it changed to "Freedom" mode. |

Re: Upgrades for Curtis 1206HB-5201 ?
The handheld cannot unlock "freedom mode". That requires a "key chip" to be temporarly connected to the diag port. If freedom mode is already unlocked, you can adjust it to 19mph. The unlock tool is available (to dealers) in 2 flavors, single use and 20x use. Since the chip "runs out" after a while (and it costs $$$.$$) there will be a charge for this service.

Thanks gentlemen. I will check with my local dealer, but if it involves trailering it in, I will probably call Scotty b to place an order.

Re: Upgrades for Curtis 1206HB-5201 ?
Personally, I'd just put an XCT48400-TXT48 in it (or XCT48500-TXT48 if taller tires are in the future) and sell the 1206HB in the parts forum.
BTW: With the 400A XCT, be sure to get the optional fan. It unlocks the 400A version's full performance potential of 460A peak. |
