Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
Tom, you have the double A arm or the single A?

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
Dave, the toe go's out so it looks like it could be turning left and right at the same time. Everything was tight and locked down so nothing had moved. I had a friend who lives close to me, text me last night and help me with it also. When I was riding I would run over small trees but nothing bigger than thumb size. I did this all the time with the economy lift and never had this problem.

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
Took me a while to get mine straightened out but haven't adjusted since. I would try marking every nut and bolt you have from pitman arm to the ends of the tierods with marker or paint pen to see if maybe something is walking in or outJust a thought. Also does it go down the road straight? That was my biggest challenge.

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
I will get the paint pen and mark everything. I didn't ride it far last night just up and down the road. Front wheel bearings are new and so are the king pins just so everyone knows. Thanks CAMP

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
So what are you adjusting?
Also, your coil overs are in the second hole, and I think the coils are to weak to use that hole. Unless you shim them like I did. When you push the car backwards, does the front end squat? Mine does not since I shimmed the shocks!! Also, I torqued the 4 bushings to Yamaha specs, (which I think is 22#)!! And that made a difference!! Did the shocks also, but don't remember the spec!! Mine worked right out of the box!! I started out with 1/4" toe, but ended up at 1/16th". It always handled well at high speed!! Just let go of the steering wheel!! |

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
Mike has touched on everything you need to check to get the front end right. With a single A-arm suspension the strength of the springs will make a big difference. When you are adjusting the front end, there are no passengers in the cart, so the springs are not compressed. When you load up to go for a ride the front end will compress depending on the new load and can change the alignment according to how much the front springs compress. I have also found that all of the front bolts need to be torque properly to prevent alignment changes. One last thought is, after each tow adjustment do you roll the cart forward or backward about 15’ or so. This will allow the suspension and tires to settle in and then recheck your progress. Good Luck.

I've always found "0" toe in to be the best. Although, I can't explain why your's is getting out of adjustment.

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
The cart has new 1 year old Yamaha shocks on it. I adjust the steering arms to get it back to straight. I wonder if i should move my shocks up another hole?
The reason my little girl is on the cart is to drive it back and then forward to help check it also. |

Re: Spring riding and problem with lift
carts are a lot dif than cars. even if they are set right they still will wear funny, depending on the road conditions, with mine i had to use the tire pressure to do the ongoing adjustments,, if i notice the outsides are wearing, just add 3lbs more air, or if middle is wearing let some out, and even at that, you will still have to rotate. i run on hard roods all the time so i get more wear; and the wider the tire the harder it is. steve
