Re: All stock G9
So last night I was wire wheeling the frame and everything getting it ready for paint. I got to the rear-end of the cart and I had it on its side and the bottom of the rear end looked funny it looked like some of the aluminum had been eaten away so I wire wheeled it smooth. On the bottom by the plug it looked wavy and when I touched it the aluminum felt soft. So when I went to show my kid I pushed on it and my finger went right through it. Needles to say rear end oil leaked all over. So if anyone ever gets battery acid on the rear end always make sure that you get it all cleaned off. Who know how long that acid was sitting on the bottom of that rear end.

Re: All stock G9
Having the rear end eaten thru is a big problem for sure. The rear end could be expensive, but hopefully you will find some way of replacing/repairing it at a reasonable cost.
Engine looks good though. |

Re: All stock G9
Dave you are correct. I have lots of parts and spare carts. I had a rear end that had a broken shaft so we took the rear end out last night and swapped the shafts and put it all back in. I did not take any pictures last night because I was not going to touch my phone with how dirty my hands were. I will take some tonight before I get started.

Re: All stock G9
I put in the parts washer and took the brush to it. Soft wire wheel on the valve cover helped it shine.

Re: All stock G9
Here are a couple pics or the rear end. This is what battery acid will do to aluminum.

Re: All stock G9
Now im just trying to get things cleaned up to put the engine in. The cart will get tipped on its side so I can wire wheel the bottom side then prime and paint. Everything will be coming out of the engine compartment including the gas tank for final paint. I still need to rebuild the spot for the battery.
