reverse not working after checking all the obvious problems

ok, update on reverse problem. I had a few problems, I had old wires rusted off on starter/generator making bad connections, these arced and fried the wires. The original problem with the reverse was still remaining. I checked the new solenoid. I check for continuity on the two large terminals on the front and got nothing. I noticed the screw that is painted red that should be adjusted at the factory was turned all the way in holding the contacts open preventing a circuit. Instead of sending the solenoid back, I turned the screw out slowly until I got a continuity reading on the meter. That was the problem she runs great now. Thanks everyone who answered my question, hope this info helps someone else.

Abbycart, do you have a spare solenoid you would sell or a source for a new one? I have one that is bad and can't find anyone locally that carries them anymore.
