Default G29 Hitachi Brushes Sticking

Have a 2011 G29 with Hitachi motor. Motor stopped working due to a stuck brush.

Per advice in previous post, I am not spending money on this motor, will replace it in this cart

However, the motor otherwise seems OK and I have an older Yamaha g19 that needs motor and I would like to get going low budget.

I have freed up the brushes for now, is there anything else I can do to keep or prolong this from happening again? I.E., should I sand down the brushes a tad so they will slide easier? Should I lubricate the brush holder? Anything I can do?

You could polish the brush sides with some very fine 1600 paper.
I would not polish too much as that may cause them to stick more.

No lubricant in there, it will trap brush carbon even more and cause sticking.
Just clean them up and the guides with a non residue contact cleaner.
