Replacing main cables
Hi all,
Have 2003 ClubCar DS 48v. Converted to Lithium almost a month ago. I have noticed after long trips the main positive and negative cables are on warm side. They are 6-gauge wires and no idea how old. I replaced all other wires (during lithium batteries install) except for the main because have not done anything like that before and I could not easily see the other ends. So, my questions - is how easy is it to replace these? Do you all know any pictures that can help? - should I replace the 6-gauge with 4 or 2 gauge? FYI: the lithium batteries I have are bigbattery, com 2x48v BDGR kit (80ah). Thanks! |

Re: Replacing main cables
I always say, when in doubt, go 2GA. I'm not sure how the cables connect to that battery pack, but it shouldn't be hard.

During lithium batteries install, installed bus bars, so all wires from batteries and the charger and the main wires are connected thru bus bars. How difficult is it to replace the main wires? Any idea where I can find a guide? |

Re: Replacing main cables
Measure lengths, determine fitting sizes, order custom cables 2 G, install. You want to get the proper sized cable ends for each cable. Good connections are critical. If your cables are getting warm then they are undersized for your current demands.
