Default OBC Bypass

!998 Club Car DS 48v
Will I need to bypass the OBC regardless of what Lithium battery/system I use?

Seems that it is required for the Allied batteries, but the BigBattery
videos I have seen indicate a plug and go installation.

Yes, you will. The OBC is only needed for the Powerdrive charger operation. It is not used for any lithium charger you get for your new lithium pack.

Here is a link to some recent postings about this:

BTW, most "Drop-in" lithium advertisements indicate the OBC must be bypassed somewhere in their installation instructions. I've seen it on several ads but can't remember which ones.

Looking at Bigbattery install video for HSKY:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKWAIRgWGBg

For the BDGR battery it is similar, nothing there that says OBC bypass...

Which makes me wonder, what would happen if OBC isn't bypassed (when everything is connected as shown in diagram)?

This will be ofcourse using the charger from bigbattery.com

The problem is that the OBC has the ability to keep your cart from running. There two parts to the bypass: One gets the charger plug to go directly to the battery, and the other keeps the OBC from disabling the controller.

Can the OBC be completely removed once it is bypassed?
