Default 93 yamaha

I got this "gem" with a cottage.I got no history with this thing. It starts easy, but even when it is good and warmed up,it doesn't have much power.I heard what I would call valve noise. That is farting through the carb. Not real bad,but who knows. The body is sweet, and my "bride" has decided she wants it for her.(I got mine,"02 ezgo).
Anyway, should get someone to rebuild this gem,or would it be easier to just replace it with a decent replacement.I haven't had much experience with these type motors. Thanx for any suggestions,,1Grumpy1

Could be as easy as setting the valve lash, .004 cold.
