Question G9-g16 primary clutch

Will a primary clutch from a g9 work on a g16?

Yes it should be fine. I think the G2-G22 are all interchangeable.

Thank you very much. Are the rollers very hard to change in the g16 clutch? Ive got rollers coming but in the mean time im going to put the other clutch on.

Courtesy of smallblock450sl. Thanks Dave!

"I "pull" the clutch assy off in one peice (off the crank) with a primary clutch puller. If you take the big bolt out with an impact (counterclockwise) you may get lucky and have it come off the crank by itself (it's a "swedge" fit). Once the clutch assy is off, put the engine side of the "fixed sheave" into a good vise and tighten it down. Use a propane tortch to loosen the loctite (used in installation) between the spider and the fixed sheave. There is another special tool used to "unscrew" the spider (a pipe wrench should do the job without damaging the spider) in a counterclockwise rotation. Change the rollors/spider and reassemble with loctite on the threads."

I was told yamaha sells the roller clutch as a replacement to the G2/9 clutch as well as even the G1....so I would imagine they are all 30mm taper and similar rpm spec. I hear the drive is different though.
