G2 Tensioner spring
I was working on the cart today. Noticed a lot of engine movement when reving it up. My motor mounts are not broke but the rubber looks stretched.
If my mounts are still together are they OK? I also noticed that my tensioner is missing. Looks like its been gone a long time. I have only had the cart a few weeks. I don't have a welder and have no chance of fabing something without some help. Anyone know the part number for the stock tensioner spring? The cart seems to run great and pull good on small hills. I would like to put the tensioner on so my motor mounts don't break. Thanks |

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
It will run much better with the torque cable in. And save motor mounts as well! Here is what i did.
The nearest yamaha dealer is 25 MI. away from me, and I figured the shipping to order one would be cost prohibitive, so I made one. |

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
very nice. Is the OEM part solid or a springed unit?

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
Its a cable with a threaded rod on the end. I don't know how to contact site sponsors with this new format, but cpp has them.

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
I bought one from the dealer here with some other stuff and had it shipped. It helps the most when you start on a hill or climb/tow difficult things.
Not a bad fab job there Mike, nice job. |

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
I just oreder one today. About 25 bucks shipped. I also ordered 2 new front motor mounts. Might as well changed them while I am in there.
That is a hard spot to see with the airbox in place. I would have never know about it missing if I hadn't seen it here. Thanks for the help! |

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
Air box not hard to get out. I set mine with a gps, I tightened it until the top speed fell off then let it back out a hair. It revs more on a steep hill going slow.

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
Thanks Sho, I made the first one with 1/4" bolt. But that killer 9 HP broke it, so this one is 5/16".
Chevy, I'd make one. |

Re: G2 Tensioner spring
LOL 'killer 9 HP' That reminds me the 16hp might break the stock cable I'll have to keep an eye on it, may end up doing what you did.
