Default More Speed

I would like to increase the speed of my EZ GO ST Sport 2+2 I have read that some folks have just changed the gear ratio to achieve this and that some have gone the route of a new controller and motor. My cart is set up tp go as fast as it can with the controller it has in it now. Just wondering if anybody has changed the gear set o an 8:1 and if so how much low end torque did you lose?

The higher gear will stress evey other part of the drive system meaning that eventually you'll be buying those parts anyway. The answer to your question about how much torque you are going to loose is pretty abritrary and totally dependent on those other componets of the drive system. IMHO, it is a much wiser choice to begin with upgrading those parts, contoller, cables, etc... before changing gears.

Ediot: I assumed that you had a stock controller and such when I worte my response. I should never assume. Tell us more about what you have in the cart. Is it the stock controller, motor cables etc???
