Default Slow 99DS Wired Wrong ?

Have a 99 DS resistor cart. It barely does 11MPH and if we had hills in the Lowcountry, I'd probably be pushing it a lot.
I was cleaning terminals saw the green wire going to F/R switch.
I looked up the wiring diagram and it shows the wire on the 4th battery from left. On my cart it it's connected to 3rd battery from left, does it matter?
Thanks, Muddog

That's the positive battery cable for reverse. It runs a lower voltage than forward does in an attempt to regulate speed. That's why reverse is slower than forward. These old 36 volt cars are just slow. 11 mph seems about normal.

Thanks, TDawg.
Would it serve any purpose to upgrade to 4Ga battery cables ?
I would like maybe 1 or 2 more MPH and a little more torque.
This cart is for guest use at our cottage, so slow is good, less damage if they hit something. But it does carry 4 people, so more torque is good.
Any low budget suggestions ? Thanks, Muddog

The biggest bottleneck in that system is the VGlide current path.

Even at full throttle, the current goes through the wiper arm thinner cable and two not very heavy duty connections.

There is no point in upgrading any of the cables that connect to the resistor coil board due to the lower current when they are in the circuit.

The most performance You can get is upgrading all other cables to 4 gauge and wiring a Vglide high speed by-pass as discussed in this thread:

You can use the same size 36v solenoid as You already have in the cart.
