Unhappy Tail Lights

I have a 1997 Club Car golf cart that I am adding new LED lights to. The tail lights have three wires...a black ground, 2 black wires hooked together for brake lights and a white wire for tail lights. The new light fixture has 3 wires...a black, white and a red. I hook the whites together, the 2 blacks to the red and the single black to ground. With the tail lights on when you apply the brakes the lights go off. What did I do wrong

Check your tail lights off the cart. Trial and error will get you the correct combination. Keep in mind LED's are polarity specific. The correct wires, if reversed, will NOT light the LED's. I've also seen some that used the white as ground for both functions with red and black for the powered leads for tail light / brake light functions.

well take a look at this......

oh and btw......
Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives’, husbands, girlfriend’s and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!
