New to me 1992 Club Car. Runs for 60 seconds, then dies.

Hello all. We just recently inherited my wife's grandfather's golf cart. It seems to be in pretty good shape considering it's in 1992. Long story short the cart runs for what seems to be normal for about 60 seconds and and then dies. It pretty much stopped working altogether. It seems like it wants to move but not enough power to move it forward or backwards.

I was able to get the charger to start working buy individually charging two of the six batteries up to 6 volts. So now the main charger seems to be working and runs for about 15 to 20 minutes each time before shutting off. The batteries to make it up to 6 volts. While the batteries don't look to be in perfect shape they do seem good enough to be lasting longer then what I am getting. (Just from my general boat or car knowledge.)

I looked through some of the posts but could not find anything that covered my issue. So I was hoping that you guys would be able to help. I know that there's a solenoid of some sort and a speed controller from what I understand. So I guess the question is where do I start? Should I run the batteries down to somewhere to get them load tested? Are the speed controllers and solenoids cheap enough and troublesome enough to where I should replace anyways?

I've gone through YouTube with no success so far. So any help you could provide to get me started would be greatly appreciated.

is there a date code stamped on the battery posts?
Did you check water level in the batteries?
You really need to get all of the batteries charged up (not just two) in order for the charger to do a good complete charge across the whole pack.

If the cart has sat for an extended period of time without being charged, the batteries may be shot. Even the best batteries are only going to last about 5-7 tops.
If they have some age to them and were not maintained properly, they can go bad a lot sooner.
If one or two batteries are bad, that can ruin the whole set.

a cart at 24v will still move
a cart will move till it uses up the power in the batteries
you have a resistor cart so it has no controller
if it moves the solenoid is good
you need batteries
test the pack voltage

Here is some updated info just in case it matters to the story. I started out and it was at 35.6v. I ran it until it died and checked voltage again. 32.9v. I expected the voltage to be a lot lower than that. That said I'm sure it still could be the batteries.

I will check the date codes and report back. It definitely did sit for a long. Of time more than likely with no maintenance. My father-in-law did put water in the batteries but I think I over filled. At least it is bubbling out a little when charging. Thank you all for your help so far.

bubbling out when over filled is normal
you need distilled water 1/4" over the plates
if a cell was dry then your charging them will not help
you need to load test them

Fast fix sounds like get new batts
Air up the tires & start driving it.

You'll maintain the batts well & get around 5 years of good use.

Maybe some new battery cables too.
