Default Battery corrosion

Hi

I just came back after being away for almost 2 months and when checking my cc Prec 2010 Trojan 875's 4 yrs old 6x8 v l noticed corrosion on only one terminal. A little wd-40 and brush cleaned it up.

Question what would cause this and if there is a problem with that specific battery?

Thanks

Alan

Somehow some acid got on the connection. Not at all that uncommon.

Totally... Brand new Nissans are known to have horrid battery terminal corrosion on the positive terminal. Reason being Nissan uses cheap batteries and this one hides the battery vent a bit too close to the + terminal...

Also 4 year old batteries are more than likely starting to require more frequent waterings as they tend to start gassing a bit more as they are being charged to which this vapor can find and attack one or more terminals.

The other thought is a broken seal between the top of the case and that particular post...clean around the area where the post come through the case and mix some good two-part epoxie and lay a bead around the post where the top of the battery meets it.
