Default Digital voltmeter wiring

Hello all,
I am fixing my parents club car up and I have a digital Voltmeter that requires 5v power supply. My question is: I'm not sure how to give it the operating power. Do I find a capacitor or something that I can wire into the positive side that will reduce the 6v to 5v? Should I keep the 5v powersource off the 6,6v batteries that I am monitoring? I have read thru a lot of posts and didn't see the answer I'm looking for. Scotty, I know you have the answer, should I even use this voltmeter or should I get one of yours? Thanks

I would get a proper voltage meter rather than mess with that low a voltage? If instructions show nothing above 5 volts you could ruin it trying to run off as 6 volt battery as when fully charged the voltage will be 6.37 volts?

Those meters from eBay stink. I had to give a new dash away after I cut a big hole in it and 2 meters later still had nothing that would work...... They are not waterproof or reliable & in my experience the failure rate out of the box is significant.... So if you want a cheap meter get the old analogue type. Otherwise my waterproof Digital is the only one I can suggest.

Got one of Scotty's. Thanks!! now, I can't figure out how to wire it to the key on the club car. I ran the negative to the battery and I was thinking that I could just hook up the + to the 1 post on the key, but it's not working as planned. I really can't seem to figure the wiring out on this cart. I swear I'm not retarded

That key switch just might be Negative. The meter has polarity protection so no harm done just try the key switch connection on the meter minus(-) and a battery pack positive ... Shoot me an email if you have any more trouble.
