Default Charging Receptacle on 1997 Club Car

The charging receptacle on my 1997 Club Car, as well as the charging plug, become extremely hot while charging. The charger seems to be running fine but the batteries will not charge. This started all at once and was working fine before. Could the charging receptacle be at fault?

Sounds like you need to take a look at it. Heat means a bad connection someplace in the charger lines. Check the nuts on the batteries that they go to also for build up and looseness! Clean them well and tighten them good.

lift the seat and give the grey wire a pull and see if it comes of the socket, it may have rotted inside socket...........................

I pulled the entire receptacle apart and cleaned it and ohm'd it and everything appears to be in good shape.

Borrowed a receptacle from a friend's cart and installed it. Seems to be charging correctly. Started with 52.2 volts across the pack when I first plugged in and an hour later it is at 53.5. Plug and receptacle are not hot. Thanks for the advice.
