1999 club car 48V charger starts and clicks of after only seconds
I just purchased a 1999 club car, when I plug in the charger it clicks on reads about 8 amps then clicks off after a few seconds. Do I need a selenoid?

Sounds like a bad charger control circuit board to me.

When the charger clicks off after initial plug in, does it restart? Normal operation for charger is to turn on, "talk" to OBC, turn off after a few seconds, then turn on again after a few seconds to begin charge cycle.

Re: 1999 club car 48V charger starts and clicks of after only seconds
I do not have access to another cart to test the chareger, funny thing is after trying many diffrent things if I turn the key on, I put the cart in forward, and push the ecelarator down just a little the charger starts and the battery light comes on... I have 5 of the 6 batteries holding at 8V, one is only chareged to 2V, I will try to replace the bad battery and see if that helps.

if the charger is coming on when you turn key on and start pressing pedal thats a sign the OBC is going on it......i have never seen one ( OBC ) when bad trip the charger but it could be that battery if its shorted so you may in fact have 2 problems...............i,m not 100% certain but its quite possible................................
