1975 EZGO moves on it's own
Just picked up a 1975 EZGO cart. It moves as soon as it is put in gear, even with the key turned off. As far as I can tell from the wiring diagram everything is hooked up correctly. Any ideas?

Re: 1975 EZGO moves on it's own
Welcome to BGW
sounds like the speed wiper board is not returning to zero, and sounds like your solenoid is stuck, do you know anything about your electric cart,/ how to work on them |

Re: 1975 EZGO moves on it's own
I have some experience, such as having replaced a motor, repacking wheel bearings, replacing the rear end. I'm sure I can replace the solenoid if necessary but I don't understand what the speed wiper is.

Re: 1975 EZGO moves on it's own
I also would note that I have 3 EZGO Marathon electric carts, a 1993, 1982, and now this 1975. The controller systems are slightly different on all 3.

Is your movable contact stuck? If I remember correctly it's a metal on metal contact to move the car. When you press the peddle, watch for something moving inside. Make sure your car is jacked up so you dont get run over.

Everything seems to move as it should.

Re: 1975 EZGO moves on it's own
Check your microswitch in the floor, and check your voltage in your solenoid. Do you hear it clicking or clicking in the floor when you press the peddle down?
On those circles on the board, how even/flat are they? Tough to tell from the photo but they look like they've seen better days. Also check on the moving part that touches the circle parts to make sure the connection is good. |

Those pics were from RIB33024, not from my cart. My wiring looks slightly different from those pics. I will check the solenoid and will probably have to take some things apart for further analysis.

Re: 1975 EZGO moves on it's own
i had the same problem on mine, and i replaced the solenoid and the microswitch and it works like new again. just check all the voltage and also use a continuity tester to see if the voltage runs through anywhere it shouldn't
