That would have been 99.... The prototype of the PDS....

On the cart in Question here, have we traced all the power wiring? Sounds like a main cable burnt off....

Sorry guys and thanks for the help so far. I had to travel this weekend after my last post so couldn't look at the golf car since then.

I measured 38 Volts DC across the battery pack. And about 18 V across the solenoid.

The solenoid makes a very load click when the pedal is engaged, but nothing happens.

I've been trcing wires- so far nothing, except, the main wire coming from the charger receptacle did break off at the positive post to the first battery.(It had a crimped connctpor with the washer shaped connector that slips over the post). I'm not sure if this was loose before or happened as I was working on it. For now, I stripped back some of the insulation on that wire, put it under the post connectors and tightened it back down, and charged it again.

Still nothing except the clicking sound when the pedal is pressed.

Back from some more travels today. I really need to figure out where to start on this thing- It is our daughter's "baby" and she uses the car to go from our neighborhood to her best friends neighborhood a couple of miles away so she has been stranded since this happened.

Any other places to look or investigate? Should I try jumping the solenoid?

Goto the Stickies at the top of the Electric EZGO page.
Goto Bottom Sticky.
Download Operator, Service and Parts manuals.
Wiring diagram is on page E-17 of service manual (28646.pdf)
Troubleshooting tree for series cart (Non-PDS) starts on page E-5, but lots of good info starting on E-1.

If you've never used a T-shooting tree before, give me a yell and I'll walk you through it, but you said you had an old Simpson, so I figure you know which way is up.

The quick and dirty fix on the charger cable to the battery pack needs to be corrected ASAP.
Might be okay to charge battery with once, but it might melt the battery terminal if you try to run the cart that way.
Charging battery is 20 amps or less while running cart is 200 amps or more.

Now go out and fix that cart for your daughter and cherish the moment. My kids are all grown and I miss those moments. (I do have some Grands kids to spoil, so not all is lost - )

Just because the solenoid 'clicks' does not guaranty it is working.
Remove the resistor and test for battery pack + on both of the solenoid large posts when it clicks. If you have power through the solenoid verify its getting to the controller. Test leads on B+ and B-. If yes then check M- and B+, voltage should rise as peddle is depressed showing controller output.

This is a test procedure only I hope you are going to fix this properly before the terminal melts off or worse you get a spark during charging!

I plan on getting some connectors tonight like the ones that are on their already, and crimping it down. These are the ones that have the ring that slips over th battery post.

Is that what is recommended?
