Default New batteries

I want to buy new batteries over the winter, I plan on buying one or two a month until next spring, My question is, when I buy them off the shelf can I keep them in my basement and not have to do anything to them until im ready to use them?

I would just save the cash in the basement, then buy a full set at one time. May get better pricing....and you know they will all be fresh and new. Another thing.....the warranty starts the day you buy them.

What AzPete said.

Plus:
Don't store batteries for long periods unless they are kept fully charged.
New batteries must be charged before initial use.
New batteries must be broken in properly to obtain full storage capacity.

Personally, I would do as AzPete suggested, stash the money and buy a complete set in the spring.

I've also heard it's a good idea to toss a $10 bill in a Mason Jar each month when you clean/service your batteries.
That way you'll have about the right amount for a new set when it is time for replacements.
