DCS solenoid where to buy
I have a 97 DCS and am about to upgrade the cables and solenoid. I can make the cables no problem. Going with 4 gauge welding leads, copper ends soldered on and wrapped.
It's completely stock and I don't have any intention on upgrading. But in reading this forum, which is awesome, I guess I should at least upgrade the solenoid. Question is where to purchase one? eBay, buggiesunlimited, Scotty? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Since I'm not looking to upgrade is there any advantage to changing out the solenoid?
I'm doing the cables because they are showing signs of wear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: DCS solenoid where to buy
The solenoid is the main safety switch which makes and breaks the connection between the main pack and the speed control. They are duty and cycle rated. The stock solenoid is built to withstand the demands of a game of golf everyday for 5 years min. I have seen them last many times that.
I assume you are upgrading the cables to supply additional amperage to the motor. This additional amperage will also flow through the solenoid. It will raise the operating temperature of the contacts. Just because your solenoid is 60a rated and 17 years old I would upgrade it to a 200 amp HD model and relax... |

Re: DCS solenoid where to buy
scotty, that is an excellent point....but he did state that his cart is totally stock and has no intention to upgrade, he is just replacing the high current cables and going up to 4 ga. because of their age.

I've melted two stock solenoids running a stock controller, motor and tires.
