The battery pack had been disconnected for a few days, Testing between the two removed cables did nothing to my DMM.....

Putting the switch in "tow" did the trick and everything is work'n as should, I was sweating bullets in fear I shorted the controller welding on the frame.

If the cables were not connected to the batteries, I can understand why the meter didn't explode.

Connecting an ohmmeter or continuity meter to a live circuit is certain death for most meters.

There's no doubt about that JohnnieB, I've been using multimeters 30+ years.....
