Oil Cooler question
I want to put an oil cooler on my 14 hp Vanguard v-twin. The only one I can find says it fits 18 - 23 hp engine. Will it fit the 14? It looks like it will fit but I'm just not sure and I don't want to order it and it doesn't fit. The Vanguard is in a Yamaha G2.

Re: Oil Cooler question
I'm no expert, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. The one on my 23 mounts on the fan shroud. There are holes in the shroud so the fan blows air thru the cooler.

Re: Oil Cooler question
The oil cooler doesn't care what engine its mounted to. Now if you were putting a smaller coil cooler from a smaller engine onto a larger engine, that would be different. But if your engine doesn't have a cooler, and you are adding one, should be fine. Just make sure it's new. If it's used you need to make sure it's clean and has full flow before you mount it.

Re: Oil Cooler question
Hes right, other than if it direct mounts it needs to fit. I bought a mower with a big cooler looks like a tranny cooler but engine was gone. I bought engine had to get the adapter for the filter mount and put hydraulic hoses into it to the remote filter and the cooler. You can also cheat and get a larger remote filter for a car or truck, increase your oil capacity a lot that way plus the oil in lines and cooler. If you have room to mount a larger filter which I did not. The powerstroke filter holds 2qts I think lol. However this cooler had connectors for hydraulic lines. Napa had the adapter and makes lines any size.

Re: Oil Cooler question
My only concern was if the Filter adapter would fit the 14 hp.

Re: Oil Cooler question
They all list 18-23hp but that could be only they came with them. Same filter seems like it would. You would probably have to look up your engine number and see if its listed for it. Or try it I see them for 20 used. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/ja...tratton/843898
