I doubt that aluminum missing would cause much shake, though. Maybe experiment a similar, opposed chunk?
Having balanced many cranks that missing chunk would not be a big concern, but that dent would be. Plus the thing to remember is that with that so far away from the bearing, it has Leverage so say (just picking number out of the air) say a 10 gram inch imbalance moved that far out may act like a 25 gram inch imbalance.
I don't know if the rod used is different than OEM, not sure if it is a sled rod or what, but Terry seems to be a pretty sharp guy so I would venture to say that is not an issue, and would look outside the engine.

Terry actually provided a short rubber manifold but I was having carb issues and other problems so I went back to the stock manifold and carb, in the end I decided driveability was more important than speed.

I did beat that dent with mallet and sand bag, came out great.
