Default Need some help on a 90 Club Car

Hello Folks,

I just purchased a 1990 Club Car ( 36 volt 2 seater ) to build into a carry buggy at the sporting clay range. I purchased the cart about a week ago from an old family friend. He said that he replaced the batteries( interstate ) last year and drove it around for a couple of months. He purchased a new ATV and quit using the cart and it sat in a barn for almost a year and he sold it to me. When he went to charge it up to bring over to me, it would not take a charge....

The cart is a Club Car as stated above but it has an "EZ GO" 36 volt charger with a timer on it. I brought it home and checked the cables, cleaned everything up and put the charger on it for the night...went back in the am and turned the key on, mashed the pedal and I hear a light "clicking" noise from the soleniod mounted to the frame near the F/R switch area.

I then checked the voltage, around 38-39 volts across the pack and when I hit the pedal to load it...it drops considerably. I suspect that the batteries are gone but want to make sure there isnt anything esle I need to check...maybe a charger is not working although it "sounds" like it loads up when turned on....just cant charge longer than the 12 hour timer. I really didnt think the batteries would be toast this soon , thought at worst I might have to replace one or two but not sure at this point.

The next thing I did was to charge the batteries one at a time on my old Car charger. I unhooked them and charged each battery for about 5 hours a piece. The voltage on each is running just under 7 volts and the pack is 38-39 volts. Tied everything back together and .....same problem. It just clicks in forward and does nothing in reverse....

If any of you guys could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it....hell I would even buy you a beer and drink it for you....

Thanks and take care.
