Cart lost a couple mph, down from 30 to 28 which is perfectly acceptable. Torque is off the charts. Torque wasn't bad before but now it's so much better. Can climb over obstacles like a rock crawler jeep now.

Massive reverse tire burnouts are too easy (half speed reverse is disabled). Forward acceleration is really nice. I do have throttle ramp up rate turned way down for a more reasonable takeoff. Turning it up would result in wheelies but I don't need that.

That fit nicely. I want a video of that sucker goin. I'd gladly give up 2 mom for the torque increase. And of course you'll need to report distance with that battery pack and motor combo. You officially have me drooling over a sparky.

I have an 08 drive. Can this motor be installed with the standard controller? If so can I expect to see a big jump in torque if I still use the standard controller and 48 volt system it has now?

The stock controller is too small to support much, if any more performance in my experience. Low amps = low torque, controller is too small.

Thanks. Sounds like if a person is thinking of the motor, they'll need to consider a new controller to make it worth while.

This is true in the situation of the "Drive", and all the sepex carts with sub-300a stock controllers.

For a high torque motor like the D&D es-63-49 I used, a minimum 500 amp controller is required. Otherwise, with only a stock or even 400a controller, it will perform no better then the stock motor.

What's up fellas? Just bought a YDR this week. I was wrapping my brain around an AC conversion when I found this thread. I called D&D to order a motor but they said they abandoned yamaha projects. What am I missing?

No they didn't. Call back and ask for Eric or Vic in engineering.

Will do. Thanks SC. I live on a golf course but a group of us use our carts to get into the back country and work on trails. Lots of hills and ruddy dirt roads. When I called, they said they weren't able to get the consistency out of the motors for Drives that customers would expect from D&D. That's when I started doing the research on the HPEV set-up. I will call them Monday.
