Smile '79 g1

Hi guys, first this site is great. Now to my questions, I always have questions. I have read and understand how to bypass govenor. but can you over rev these engines? I have read answers both ways. Mine has 93 lbs. compresion. do i need ring job? Thanks to all of you in advance

Did you check the compression while warm? If yes and it's 93 psi, then you need a rebuild. Your compression should be around 120 psi.

As far as overrev....yes any engine can be over revved and destroyed. Use your listening skills to determine when the revs are high enough and be careful. Use a high quality 2 cycle oil for air cooled engines. While driving, it takes a while for these carts to wind up, I can get to 27 mph but it takes a long stretch of road, say 1/4 mile. I can get to 19 mph pretty quickly, but from there it's slow.

I will check the compression while warm, this cart is in good shape for the year, so I will leave the gov. on, beter safe than sorry. It runs 15 to 16 now and I like the low end power i have for hills. Rebuild sounds like a good project for this winter. Many thanks for the info.

yep , kc, mine is old too , like me. needs a muffler BBQ too, but to hot and dry here to do it now. Hope for rain soon. The last six numbers on my serial are 000533

Good luck with the BBQ, we are all dancing for rain. I don't know what it all means but
J10-000201 is stamped on my cart. Post some pics up..were are you?
