Upgrade Kits for 1995 Club Car DS
I've been looking for upgrade kits for my 1995 Club Car DS. I can't seem to find anything I'm looking for. I would like a kit that will give me anywhere between 20-25 Mph.
I've seen kits put together already like this one: http://www.buggiesunlimited.com/prod...&cat=158202305 Any pros or cons on this? If cons, can you recommend parts/pieces to make a kit similar to the one above? I would like to blow the doors off some of the standard golf carts. |

Avoid B.U. parts. IMO, They are not very reliable.
I would suggest about a 400 amp alltrax, with a 36v G.E. motor. The G.E. motor can handle the extra voltage and will give you closer to the 25+ range of speed. |

Can you run a 36V motor on a 48v kart? Yikes! And what about a 700 amp controller? When would I need the amps? For torque?

You can do it, if its a high quality motor. If you go buy a cheap piece of junk 36v motor, then I wouldn't recommend it. G.E. motors are pretty good at handling it. There are other good motor manufacturers out there, EMP can custom build you one (and they help sponsor this site).

You don't have to buy a "Kit" to get what you want. (especially that kit) Speed and power cost money, there is no other way to get it. Buy cheap components and you get cheap components. Buy good quality components and you get good components.
Lots of people swear by "kits" but it's been my observation those same people are not educated enough to know there are better parts available for the same money or less or simply have the money to blow. |

Re: Upgrade Kits for 1995 Club Car DS
I'm good with parting with some money in order get what I want though. But is there a motor or speed controller that I should be looking at? I have a 48V cart, and need upgrades. Whats the difference between a 400A and a 700A controller? What am I looking for?

Amps......... The 700amp controller will handle 300 more amps than the 400amp controller. What your motor does, determines how many amps are required for the task at hand.
