Telex 112 Resistors location
I am restoring a 3-wheeler Melex golf cart. I started few years ago but I had to quit because of health issues. I removed most of the components out for better access of cleaning the chassis. In the process I took out the three coil resistors, R1, R2, and R3. Now I can’t remember what sequence they were. The parts manual I have doesn’t specify the value. The ohmmeter reading and are approx, 1, 3 and 5 ohms. From left to right, can someone help on the location?
A second question I have, where is the serial number located on the cart? I found a number on the motor casing, 52809 but I think the serial number should be six digits. According to Melex, I have this configuration which it starts with serial number 164610. It’s not terrible important, but I would appreciate if someone had this information. |

Re: Melex 112 Resistors location
I found a dilapidated tag with a Ser. No. 164610 which indicates a pretty early model. Also the motor plates has an entry of 12,77, which I assume is a Dec, 1977 manufacture date.
As far as the resistors, I’m going to place the highest value at the low speed sequence. The other two resistors are pretty much similar so it shouldn’t make too much difference. |

Re: Telex 112 Resistors location
Yes, I have the same diagram but the manual does not specify the value of each one. They maybe all the same, but with such a low ohm value, it would be difficult to pinpoint with a standard multimeter. One of the resistor has a smaller gauge so it appears to be one with a higher value. I placed this one in the slow speed circuit. The others appear to be the same.

You can visually identify the resistors as the lower value resistors will have thicker gauge and fewer turns. So looking at your wiring diagram, the 5Ω is connected to #10 wire, the 3Ω is in the middle and the 1Ω is on wire #11. |
