Default Carb Replacement for 1992 FE290

Hello all, I am looking to replace the carb on my 1992 CC ds with a FE290 engine. Local shops want $180 for a factory replacement but I have found one on Amazon for roughly $20. Local shop says that the one on Amazon will fill my engine with gas and trash it. The carb that is currently on my cart has the place where the cable hooks to worn out and the butterfly doesn't work properly. Is this true on the cheaper carb? My carb on the cart now is a Keihin and the one that I found on Amazon is also a Keihin. Thanks for all replies

It's amazing how many people RAVE about the $20 eBay/Amazon carbs, and only a few (so far) have had problems with them!
BUT, I'm a... (what was I called?) oh yeah... a "Purest"!
because, I've always thought that "You get... what you pay for"!

I have SO much money wrapped up in my cart that I would almost insist on going with an OEM carb if mine were to fail,
However... I'm as cheap as the next guy, and might consider the cheap aftermarket Chinese carb IF... it were ever to come to that.

It's pretty much up to you!
IF... you change your oil regularly, and check the level on a daily basis,
you'll be able to see if the cheap carb fails before it wrecks your engine.

I'm not sure it is allowed, but can you post a link to this $20 Keihin carb?

I'd prefer if you did your own search!
BGW has paying sponsors that sell carbs!

I am 99.99% sure that isn't a genuine Keihin carb, not for $20 at least.

I was just asking for the link to see how they were wording the add to claim it was a Keihin.

A while back there was a post on a dirt bike forum about counterfeit Keihin carbs. At a quick glance, they looked genuine. But once you took them apart it was evident that they weren't.

Being called a purest ain't a bad thing, least it wasn't when I said it to you but a 180. for a 1 barrel carb so small and simple is crazy in my opionion

I was wondering if you'd notice that Eric!
No worries, and no offense taken... to be honest? I thought it was pretty funny!

The add didn't say Keihin it says it on the carb in the pic. I have always been an OEM fan because I surely am not smarter than the OEM engineers. But I have dealt with Keihin carbs for years on motorcycles and figured that if the brand was Keihin then it should be fine. Thanks for the replies.
