Re: Fan Bolts 89-93 gas
You don't have to remove the fan to remove the flywheel. Look at the flywheel and you will see 2 phillips head screws remove them then you have the threads you need for your puller. Steering wheel puller will work with long bolts.

Re: Fan Bolts ignition 89-93 gas
One other question, I tried to pull the fan assembly but was afraid of breaking something as the pull was extremely hard what is the easiest way to set the timing? I thought I read somewhere that I should pull the engine.

Re: Fan Bolts 89-93 gas
I have (3) 2pg engines 81-87 and have rebuilt them and never had a problem with timing as long as you alien the original marks (BUT) if your going to do this yes pull the engine.

Re: Fan Bolts 89-93 gas
Hello, engine is out of car and I found out why my sockets would not fit the 6 fan bolts there is a tab that had to be bent out of the way. Here are some photos of all the timing marks also it is noted that the timing plate screws should be in the center of the slots, anything else that jumps at you?

Re: Fan Bolts 89-93 gas
So someone has been in there ??? Hummmm Are you going to change the crank seal also. I would because that is the hard one to get to. If you do be sure to use blue loctite/lube the rubber lip/and I stake the seal area on the case in 3 spots.

Re: Fan Bolts 89-93 gas
I am going to sell the darn thing so I need it to run decent to at the very least make it to the top of my driveway which it will not do. Starts very nice but has no giddy up I set the timing plate so the screws were in the middle of the slot just like the book tells me to all that work and it still has no giddy up maybe the carb is a bit dirty so I will take a look at that, also who makes a flat timing light?
